This is teaching. This is hope.
The world feels heavy. Weary. Unsettled. With so much pain in the world, it can feel like our teaching doesn’t matter.
But it does.
The students in our classrooms live in this world with us. They, too, are carrying this heaviness.
That’s why our classrooms matter. Our teaching matters. Our students matter.
So we show up.

When I first discovered leadership theories, it was like discovering something I already knew.
I knew leadership.
I knew leaders.
I was one.

Hive: My Word for 2026
My word for 2026 is “hive.”
To me, hive is about community — the people I learn with, the people I care for, and the communities that sustain me. It’s the scholars and educators I work alongside, and it’s my personal community: family, friends, neighbors — the people who make life meaningful and joyful.
