This is teaching. This is hope.
Students show up. We show up. Together, we create community.

The world feels heavy. Weary. Unsettled. With so much pain in the world, it can feel like our teaching doesn’t matter.
But it does.
The students in our classrooms live in this world with us. They, too, are carrying this heaviness.
That’s why our classrooms matter. Our teaching matters. Our students matter.
So we show up.
We remember our students’ names. We listen. We create communities on our campuses and online, where students feel heard, where they are challenged to think deeply, and where they wrestle with the problems of our world. Communities where they know we believe in them.
In a troubled world, this is not insignificant.
This is teaching.
This is hope.
What we do each day may be quieter than the headlines, but it matters deeply to the students we teach.
